Mississippi Coordinated School Health
Healthy Student Act
Striving to further the focus on school health, the Mississippi legislature passed the Mississippi Healthy Students Act in April, 2007 to address the overall health concerns within a local school. To support and enable successful implementation of school health programs and policies, the members of the Mississippi Dash-funded team have provided several training opportunities within the last two years for teachers and other school staff in Mississippi. In 2008 and 2009, Mississippi has provided:
Three CDC School Health Index workshops training approximately
168 school staff
Three PECAT Workshops training approximately 100 school staff
Two HECAT workshops training approximately 60 staff
Seven NASPE Pipeline Courses training approximately 75 people
Two Nutrition Education workshops training approximately 80 people
Eight Physical Education workshops training approximately 225 people
